Louis Johnson Booth, the third son of Willie B and Cordelia Stokes Booth, was born on March 3, 1913 in Gloucester County, Virginia. He was reared in the community of Purton, received his early education there, and became a member of the Morning Glory Baptist Church family by baptism.

Louis enjoyed working on the farm and hunting with his brother, Leon, but his desire for something better prompted him to establish residence in New York. It was there that he accepted employment as a baker in Brooklyn.

In 1937 he met and married Gladys Davis and they spent 48 years together in Brooklyn.

Louis served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army from September 1943 until February 1946, at which time he was honorably discharged.

In 1975 he retired from his occupation as a baker and became a part time employee at the MASTER LOU BAKERY in Brooklyn. This establishment was named in his honor, and owned by his nephew, Garland.

Louis returned to his native home in Gloucester in 1985 and made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Driver, and on November 3, 1993, his life of eighty years expired.
